Lenten Journal 2012
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me.
Psalm 51:10 NRSV
The Worship Team selected these words from the psalmist as a goal for our Lenten journey this year. Each of us has areas of our lives that need work – de-cluttering perhaps or even a major spring cleaning.
Many of us remember our friends giving up something for Lent. Maybe that was part of your own tradition. This year we are asking, not that we give up sweets or going to movies or some such external sacrifice, but that we examine ourselves to find those qualities within us that hold us back from full humanity.
This journal is a supplement to the devotional thoughts we will receive daily during Lent. Each day has a scripture and a quote plus a question with space to write. With hope and prayer that we will grow in faith and community, we offer this opportunity to walk through Lent with thoughtfulness and deepening insight.
